Susie Mae (Green) Green

“God saw the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb.  He gently closed her loving eyes and whispered ‘peace be thine.’  The days of pain, the weary hours, the weary night’s are past. The ever patient worn out has found some sweet rest at last.”

Susie G. Green, daughter of the late Henry Green and Susana Davis Green was born on October 10, 1922, in Warren County, North Carolina, and departed this life on March 29, 2017 at 5:45 p.m. at Maria Parham Hospital, Henderson, NC after a brief illness.

She attended Warren County Training School in Wise, NC.  At an early age, she joined Cooks Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Warren County, NC where she was a faithful member until she relocated to High Point, NC.  There she joined the Emmanuel Baptist Church, were she served on the Usher Board, and was active in Bible Study and Sunday school.  After retiring from High Point Regional Hospital, she relocated to Henderson, NC, and joined Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Mason, NC.  She was active in the Usher ministry, kitchen committee, Sunday school, Bible study and the Missionary Circle until her health failed. She loved to sew, cook, read her bible, and solve Word Search puzzles. She was known for speaking her mind.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert Lee, William Edward, Henry Jr., John Otis, and one sister, Florence Berry. Also preceding her in death was her daughter Ida Peterson, and three grandchildren, Gloria Ann, Shannon, and William.

She was married to the late Richard Jackson (Jack) Green, and to this union five children were born. She leaves to cherish her memories, Ruby G. Ayscue (Richard) of Warrenton, NC Richard Green, Jr. (Lillian), Henderson, NC, Ethel Milam, High Point, NC, John Edward Green (Brenda), High Point, NC and one stepson, Ritchie Green of Wise, NC.; one sister, Luella Stanford of Brooklyn, NY; two sisters-in-law, Cora Green, and Mattie Greene, both of Warrenton, NC; nine grandchildren: Phillis Ayscue-Miles (Howard) of Mebane, NC, Tony Ayscue (Maria) of Mebane, NC Dr. Tanya D. Ayscue,  Raleigh, NC, Stanley Green of Mt. Kisco, NY, Kathy Floyd (Ronald) of Henderson, NC, Karen Starkey (Tyrone) of Hillsborough, NC, Brian Green (Emily) of Henderson, NC, Ki-Jana and Quanta Jones of Henderson, NC, Chardena Benjamin of High Point, NC and Bernard Rainey of Winston-Salem, NC;  and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great children, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and two special friends,Mollie Bullock and Martha Bullock.
