Rowena Tally

Rowena “Queen” Talley daughter of the late William B. Talley and Ann Liza Talley was born November 18, 1921 in the Oakville Community of Warren County, North Carolina.  Queen as she was affectionally called by everyone who loved her entered into eternal rest on April 11, 2017.
Queen was baptized at an early age and joined the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Macon, North Carolina.
Queen was educated in the Warren County public school system, where she attended Warren County Training School in Wise, North Carolina.
Like her parents, Queen worked as a sharecropper and remained in North Carolina until all her children graduated from high school.
Queen relocated to the Maryland-Washington, DC area in 1973 where over the years she resided with several of her children, aiding in raising her grandchildren, allowing some of her children the opportunity to pursue their careers.  THANK GOD FOR LOVING GRANDMOTHERS.
Queen loved watching television, singing, and attending church and doing God’s work in her spare time, but what she loved most of all was spending time with her entire family.  She loved to cook and would always have a plate of food for anyone who graced her doorstep.
Queen was very funny and feisty lady at a times with a rumbustious and affectious laugh.  She definitely passed that laugh on to all the women and some of the men to in her family. 
To cherish her laughter, sense of humor, and love of God and family, Queen leaves her seven children Dorcy Talley, Sr., his three children, Dorcy, Jr. (deceased), Gloria, and James.  Ruth Jones, her four children, Rochelle, Carlton (deceased), Alice, Demetrius.  Irene Hunter, her two children Kimberly, and Kelly.  Roberta Gill, her son-in-law John, their one daughter Kesha.  Darnell Talley, her daughter-in-law, Diane, their two children Maurice and Monty.  Douglas Hunter, his one son Jhonte` (deceased), Curtis Hunter, her daughter-in-law Dorinda, his four children, Rafael, Takeva, Curtis, Jr., Zipporah and a host of great-grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and one living sister, Luvenia Crest, who recently celebrated her 99th birthday, and countless other relatives and friends.
