Although we are saddened that the death angels have come, we know that God does not make mistakes. We will miss her quiet and humble spirit; God had need of an angel, and Grace answered the call.

Grace Patillo Harrison was born on November 28, 1929 in Oine, North Carolina to the late Robert Henry and Grace Vaughn Patillo. The pearly gates welcomed her to eternal rest and freed her from all sickness and pain on May 30, 2017.

Grace’s received her early education at the Oine Elementary School and later at the Warren County Training School in Wise, North Carolina. Grace accepted Christ at a young age as a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She eventually moved to Brooklyn, New York and fell head over heels in love with the late Albert Freeman Harrison. They were joined in holy matrimony on April 12, 1948. Through this union, two lovely children were born: Freeman Jr. and Shirley.

A devoted wife and mother who loved her family, Grace worked for many years as a seamstress in the Garment District of New York City. She co-labored with her husband, doing alterations at their business, the Al Dry Cleaners.

Grace was preceded in death by sisters Eliza and Priscilla and brothers Robert and Samuel. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Freeman (Verna) Harrison of Detroit, Michigan; daughter, Shirley Guida of New York; four grandchildren, Freeman Jr., Jennette, Bryant and Collin; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Patillo (Jean) of Philadelphia, PA and John Patillo (Helen) of Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Bernice McSween of Orlando, FL and Shirley Lyons of Gastonia, NC; sisters-in-law Maxine Patillo of Charlotte, NC, Laura Patillo of Philadelphia, PA and Henrietta Steed of Oine, NC; brother-in-law Percell Harrison (Alice) of Oine, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
