God in his infinite wisdom, mercy and divine love called our loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, DESSIE M. EGERTON to her eternal home during the early morning hours on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 while receiving care in her earthly home in Warrenton, North Carolina.  Dessie was born September 11, 1927 in Monroe, North Carolina to the late John and Matte Moses.

Dessie received her education in the Union County School systems.

Being reared in a Christian home, she accepted Christ at an early age and remained faithful to Lord until death.  She was united in marriage to the love of her life, the late Willie Egerton.  This union was blessed with eight children.  After marriage, she continued her spiritual journey and joined the Greater Cornerstone Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Charlie Bullock.  She loved her church served faithfully  under the leadership of its current pastor, Reverend Dennis Wooten.

Dessie affectionately known as “Mother Egerton” had a gift for singing.  She was known in the community for leading praise and worship services, singing at funerals and other musical programs.  For many years, she and her loving friend, the late Evangelist Fannie K. Johnson would do prison ministry and have bible study and prayer service.  She loved gospel music - two of her favorite songs were,“Let Jesus Fix it for you” and “I feel the Lord stretching out in me.”  Mother Egerton loved to praise the Lord and do her little dance.

Mother Egerton  adored her family and friends dearly.  In addition to singing, another favorite talent was sewing - she could go to a store and look at an outfit and come home and make it without a pattern.

For many years, she was employed at J. P. Taylor Company until her retirement.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by:  two sons, William Egerton and Richard Egerton.

Dessie leaves to cherish her memories of love, laughter and strength:  four sons, Willie Egerton of the home, Albert Egerton of Manson, North Carolina, Ronnie Egerton of Temple Hills, Maryland and Larry Egerton of Indiana; two daughters, Sarah          (John) of Cranford, New Jersey and Shirley         (Charles) of Manson, North Carolina; three grandchildren raised as her own, Albert Egerton, Jr., Preston Egerton and Allen Egerton along with sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Minister Johnnie Mae Jones (James) and Pastor Dr. Essie Branch, both of Roselle, New Jersey; one sister-in-law, Lucy Arrington of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother-in-law, J.C. Allen of Henderson, North Carolina; a dedicated and special caretaker whom always entered the room greeting, “Good morning baby”, Meka Talley of Manson, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and great friends.
