Carrie Champ

None of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. If we live, we live to

the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we

die, we are the Lord's. Romans 14:7-8

Carrie Caroline Champ, 90, affectionately known as “Toach”, was born on

June 5, 1926 to the late Lou Jack and Carrie Taylor in Warren County, North

Carolina. She departed this life on Monday, May 8, 2017 at her home.

She received her early education in the Warren County public school system.

Carrie was baptized at an early age and became a member of Ridgeway Baptist

Church.

In her adult life, Carrie was a faithful domestic worker. She enjoyed farming,

making quilts, and preserves and jelly.

She was a loving mother, mother-in- law, grandmother, great grandmother and

friend to all who knew her.

Preceding her in death are two daughters: Nell Pettus and Edith Mae Henderson.

The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 13, 2017 from the Ridgeway

Missionary Baptist Church at 1:00 PM. The Pastor, the Reverend W. T. Ramey,

III, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her grandchildren: Rhonda, Jerry, Jr. and Justin

of the home; eight great-grandchildren: Asia, Armiya, Jayden, Justin, Jada, Elijah,

Olivia, and Tyler; her son-in- law: Jerry Sr.; a host of nieces and nephews; two

special neighbors: Joyce and Shayne Boyd; one very special friend that she called

her granddaughter: Reverend Nicole Jones; several friends who had a special place

in her heart were: Brenda Sotele, Shirley Jones, Louise Alexander, Catherine

Allen, Frasier Williams, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Champ may be viewed today in the R. H. Greene funeral Home Chapel from

12:00 noon until 7:00 PM, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
