William "Monkey" Alexander

I'm free, praise the Lord, I'm free, no longer bound, no more chains holding, my soul is resting, oh what a blessing, Praise the Lord, Hallelujah, I'm free.  R. H. Greene Funeral Home is standing with relatives of Mr. William "Monkey" Alexander, age 69 of Bracey, Virginia.  Mr. Alexander transitioned on Monday, October 24, 2022 at his residence.  

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in the Jerusalem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Boydton, Virginia.  The Reverend Mack Talley will officiate and Evangelist Nancy Alston will deliver the eulogy.

Memories will forever be etched in the hearts of:  seven children, Timothy Hargrove of California, Shontay Lewis of Henderson, North Carolina, Latisha Hargrove both of Henderson, North Carolina, Christina Henderson of Norlina, North Carolina, Sonia P. Williams (LaShawn) of Richmond, Virginia, Tammy A. Simes (Bradley) of Warrenton, North Carolina and Tiffany Height of South Hill, Virginia;  two godchildren, Wesley Seward and Ashley Seward; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; twelve siblings, Edward Alexander (Ellen) of Bracey, Virginia, Robert Alexander (Maria) of Boston, Massachusetts, Bobby Alexander (Barbara), Janet Baskerville (Jerry), Connie Russell all of Palmer Springs, Virginia, Mary Claiborne of Richmond, Virginia, Araminta Bell of Stanford, Connecticut, Shirley Merrit (Leon) of South Hill, Virginia, Jamie Alexander (Lisa), and Evangelist Nancy Alston (Delbridge), both of Warrenton, North Carolina, Beatrice Alexander and Annette Alexander, both of Henderson, North Carolina; one uncle, Junior Gillis (Helen) ; three aunts, Ethel Seward of Boston, Massachusetts, Mary Seward of Manson, North Carolina and Araminta Griffin of Brooklyn, New York; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Alexander will lie in repose in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m.

The family will gather at the home of Edward and Ellen Alexander, 10309 Redlawn Road, Bracey, Virginia.
