William Gable "Gay" Pettaway

Oh, I want to see him, look upon his face, Cares all past, home at last, ever to rejoice.  R. H. Greene Funeral Home is offering compassion and service to the relatives of Mr. William Gable "Gay" Pettaway, age 85 of 488 Bullocksville Park Road, Manson, North Carolina.  Mr. Pettaway transitioned on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his residence.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Bethlehem Christian Church in Manson, North Carolina.  The Reverend John E. Jefferson will officiate and interment will follow in the Oak Level United Church of Christ Cemetery in Manson, North Carolina. 

Memories will forever be cherished by:  his loving wife, Elizabeth Hawkins Pettaway of the home; two sons, Michael (Lisa) Pettaway of Chesterfield, Virginia and James A. “Bird” (Barbara) Pettway of Manson, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Damian, Talisa, Shakilven and Maia Pettaway; one godson, Frantwon Dortch; one daughter/niece, Audrey Bullock of Durham, North Carolina; one sister, Bettie Paschall of Washington, D.C.; one son-in-law, Calvin Jones of Richmond, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Patsy Chase of Manson, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Albert Hawkins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Thurston Quinitchette of Middleburg, North Carolina; a close friend, Alex Terry of Manson, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mr. Pettaway will lie in repose on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at R. H. Greene Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors and friends at the home located at 488 Bullocksville Park Road, Manson, North Carolina.
