During this moment of sadness, R. H. Greene Funeral Home is offering comfort to the remaining loved ones of Mrs. Virginia “Dee Dee” Davis, age 67 of Richmond, Virginia formerly of Warren County, North Carolina. Mrs. Davis transitioned on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 in Richmond, Virginia.
Virginia “Dee Dee” Johnson Davis was born February 11, 1953 to the late Rosetta Johnson Wilson and Matthew Brooks of Morganton, NC. She entered into eternal rest on June 17, 2020 at home in Chesterfield, VA.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Willie M. Davis Sr; son, Willie M. Davis, Jr; and four brothers, Randy Wilson, Herbert Wilson, Jr, Bobby Harshaw, and Danny Johnson. And late uncle, Alexander Johnson.
She received her education at Freedom High School and Western Piedmont College in NC. She worked for many years in nursing because she was a natural nurturer and loved to take care of everyone.
Those left to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Tina Green of Chester, VA, Lorraine Davis-Bryant (Dominique) of Chesterfield, VA, and Regina Davis of Chester, VA. Eight Grandchildren who were the absolute loves of her life: Shartisha White, Ashley White, Tyrell Green, Montise Ausby, Marcus Ausby, Michael Norman, Jalen Norman, and Nadia Norman. Two Great-grandchildren: Alonna’ Smyre, and Ali’Lah Green. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and they loved her just as much.
She also leaves to behind her beloved aunts and uncles that she cherished and loved so much: Pauline Johnson-Shuford of Oxon Hill, MD, Odell Johnson and Hellen Johnson of Clinton, MD, Aileen Brooks Bold of Jackson, MS, and Curtis Brooks (Evelyn) of Martinsville, VA. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Additionally, three very close cousins who were more like sisters to her: Loraine Johnson, Janet Ervin, and Rosa-Lee Moore.
Dee Dee was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed. We will miss your voice, laughter, home-cooking, and overall presence in our daily lives. We will carry your love and all the wonderful memories with us for the rest of our days. We will love you always and forever.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Friday, July 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Wise, North Carolina. The Reverend John A. Wynn will officiate and interment will follow in the Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Wise, North Carolina.
Mrs. Davis will lie in repose on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home.
