Sam Powell, Jr

I have fought when others feared to serve. I have gone where others failed to go. I've lost friends in war and strife, Who valued Duty more than love of life. Mr. Sam Powell age 75 of Macon, North Carolina transitioned on Thursday, November 12 , 2020  at Veterans Administration  Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 12:00 noon at the Powell Family Cemetery in Vaughan, North Carolina, with the Reverend Charles Walton officiating.  Interment will follow with Military Rites.

Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy include his children, Wade Powell, Clara Davis (JR) and Mary Garrett (Derrick); Seven grandchildren, Scottie Pacheco, Emmanuel Powell (Amber), Brieana Powell, Sherika Powell, Miya Powell, Hope Davis and Layla Garrett; Two great-grandchildren: Nuriyah Thomas  and Emani Powell; four sisters, Eva Lucille Burnette, Laura Barrow, Naomi Allen and Eunice Powell; five aunts, Josephine Brown, Shelva Jean Turner, Gertrude Stamper,  Mary Mason, Laura Bullock; two uncles, Richard Bullock and George Bullock, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a large extended family that includes: Laura Powell, The Elam Family, Elizabeth Brown, John Milam, Joe Vick, Janet Farrar, Joyce Harris, Rosa Thames, Lacie Brown, Gracie Harris, Alice Clayton, Oliver Vick, Gloria Tucker, Parthenia Rhodes, Jamie Batts, Brenda Hawkins, Nicole Mullins, Crystal Smith, Fredrick Baskette, Calvin Davis, Felicia Taylor and Carmen Champion.

Mr. Powell will lie in repose in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Arrangements are by R. H. Greene Funeral Home of Warrenton, North Carolina.
