Matthew Seward, Sr.

If I walk in the pathway of duty, if I work till the close of the day, I know there is joy that awaits me, when I've gone the last mile of the way.  With tender sympathy, R. H. Greene Funeral Home is offering comfort to the loved ones of Mr. Matthew Seward, Sr., age 85 of Henderson, North Carolina.  Mr. Seward transitioned on Friday, October 24, 2025 at the Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, North Carolina.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Bethlehem Christian Church in Manson, North Carolina.  The Reverend Elizabeth Brame, Pastor will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Everlasting memories will forever be cherished by:  his wife, Kay Frances Bryant Seward of the home; two daughters, Kim Alexander-Henderson of Greensboro, North Carolina and Karen Alexander-Hylton (Robert) of Burlington Township, New Jersey; one son, Matthew Seward, Jr. (Robin) of Ossining, New York; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; an adopted brother, James Mayfield (Selestine) of Palmer Springs, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Martha Magnolia Vann of Warrenton, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Isaac Talley of Palmer Springs, Virginia and Daniel Lee Bryant (Sadie) of Goose Creek, South Carolina; a special family friend, Tonia Davis of Warrenton, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mr. Seward will lie in repose on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors and friends at the home, 696 Adams Street, Henderson, North Carolina.
