Martha Hayes Wortham

When I cross the wide river of Jordan, I'll meet my friends and loved ones waiting there.  With compassion, R. H. Greene Funeral Home is offering comfort to the loved ones of Mrs. Martha "Poochie" Hayes Wortham, age 79 of Seattle, Washington.  Mrs. Wortham, a native of Warren County, North Carolina transitioned on Monday, March 17, 2025 at the Spokane Valley Health and Rehab Center in Spokane Valley, Washington.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Jordan Chapel Baptist Church in Franklin County, North Carolina.  The Reverend Carrie W. Alexander, Pastor will assist, The Reverend David Bullock, Jr., will officiate and the Reverend Jimmie Hayes, Jr., will deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Jordan Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Everlasting memories will forever be cherished by:  two daughters, Annie Wortham of Camden, New Jersey and Tiajwana Wortham of Newark, New Jersey; two sons, Tiejwon Wortham of Spokane, Washington and Tyree Wortham of Newark, New Jersey; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Hayes of Camden, New Jersey and Betty Ruth Woodard of Henderson, North Carolina; six sisters-in-law, Betty Henderson, Carolyn Davis and Shirley Jones (David) all of Warrenton, North Carolina, Helen Burton of Newark, New Jersey, Wanetta Pinklyn of New York, New York and Verga Sterling of Greensboro, North Carolina; three very special nieces, Carolyn Henderson of Spokane, Washington, Shannon Kearney of Creedmoor, North Carolina and Latrice Hayes of Norlina, North Carolina; one special great-great niece, Sharnasha Townes; two special great-great nephews, Traveon Townes and Kei’Mon Townes; a special family friend, Vivian Hayes; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Wortham will lie in repose on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors and friends at the home of Mr. Curtis Hayes, 236 Orville Street, Henderson, North Carolina.
