Ms. Simms transitioned on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of United Solid Rock Faith Ministries in Norlina, North Carolina. Evangelist Angela Neal-Williams will officiate and Bishop Moore H. Bynum will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the United Solid Rock Faith Ministries Memorial Gardens in Norlina, North Carolina.
Everlasting memories will forever be cherished by: four devoted children, Gary Sims of Silver Springs, Maryland, Jennifer Sims of Warrenton, North Carolina, Walter Lyons of Henderson, North Carolina and Tonyetta Lyons of Buford, Georgia; nine grandchildren, O'Kiyyah Lyons of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Gary Sims, Tanisha McCray, Genita Sims all of Temple Hills, Maryland, Joshua Allen of Buford, Georgia, Galia Sims of Temple Hills, Maryland, Caleb Peters of Buford, Georgia, Cameron Sims of Warrenton, North Carolina and Latoya Silver of Raleigh, North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ernestine Faulcon and Ada Marie Davis (Sandy Lee) both of Warrenton, North Carolina, Mattie Pearl Simes of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; two godchildren, Jeremy Sims (Mary) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Natasha Kearney of Oxford, North Carolina; a godbrother, Reverend Samuel Champion (Helen) of Middleburg, North Carolina; three aunts, Fran Young of Linden, New Jersey, Annette Mitchell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Eleanor B. Boyd of Warrenton, North Carolina; one uncle, Luther Young of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, church family and cherished friends.
Ms. Simms will lie in repose on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home and at the church on Sunday, one hour prior to the service.
In her memory, the family request those who are able to wear green.
