Greene Funeral Home is offering comfort to the loved ones of Mrs. Lillian Mae Townes Simms, age 81 of Chester, Virginia formerly of Warren County, North Carolina. Mrs. Simms transitioned on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in Chester, Virginia.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Coley Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton, North Carolina. The Reverend Carson F. Jones, Jr., Pastor will officiate, the Reverend Thurman Davis will assist and interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Everlasting memories will forever be cherished by: three sons, David Simms (Amanda) of Portsmouth, Virginia, Mark Simms (Debbie) of Chester, Virginia and Joseph Henderson (Patrice) of Raleigh, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Jermaine, Mark, Michael, DaVonta, Yatia and Shawnda; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Townes (Laverne) of Portsmouth, Virginia; five sisters-in-law, Mamie Kearney and Bertha Massenburg, both of Paterson, New Jersey, Mary Agnes Harrison, Connie Sims and Carletta Sims Brown, all of Warrenton, North Carolina; four brothers-in-law, Johnnie Sims (Shirley), Horace Sims and Jasper Southerland, all of Warrenton, North Carolina and Marvin Townes of Washington, D.C.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Mrs. Simms will lie in repose at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The family will assemble at the R. H. Greene Funeral Home at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday.
