Lawrence E. Nelms

With sympathetic and caring hearts, R. H. Greene is offering comfort to the loved ones of Mr. Lawrence E. Nelms, age 76 of Norlina, North Carolina.  Mr. Nelms transitioned on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Duke Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. 

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home.  Reverend Charlie Leath will officiate and Elder Patricia Andrews will deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Burchette Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery in Manson, North Carolina.

Everlasting memories will forever be cherished by:  his wife, Lizzie Andrews Nelms of the home; one son, Lawrence E. Nelms, Jr., of the home; two daughters, Shelby Nelms and Dirrie Weston, both of Maryland; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Jeremy Nelms of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Deloris Lee of Huddleston, Virginia and Eleanor Martin of Altavista, Virginia; two aunts, Eva Alston of Evington, Virginia and Lizzie Nelms of Bedford, Virginia; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry Andrews (Carolyn) of Henderson, North Carolina, James Andrews (Audrey) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Mamie Boyd (Wilbert) of Chesterfield, Virginia and Dorothy Hope of Richmond, Virginia; one very special uncle-in-law, George Jones of Norlina, North Carolina; very special friends, Phileshia Jackson of Durham, North Carolina, James Palmer of Soul City, North Carolina, Kevin and Melvin Williams, both of Norlina, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mr. Nelms will lie in repose on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home.
