Amazing Grace, shall always be my song of praise and I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary. Mr. Lawrence Douglas Burton, Sr., of 156 Burton Farm Road, Warrenton was born October 17, 1943 in Silver Springs, Maryland to George Washington Burton, Sr. and Laura Novella Jackson Burton. Peacefully, he departed this life on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Burton received his formal education in the public schools of Montgomery County, Maryland.
He resided in Beltsville, Maryland for years and was employed as an Electronic Engineer for the United States Navy from where he retired. After retirement, he relocated to Warren County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Melissa Taylor and one sister, Lena Burton.
Left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Anita Ross Burton of the home; two children, Tiffany Purnell (Lamont) and Lawrence Douglas Burton, Jr., all of Warrenton, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Aaron, Aaric, Owen, Anthony and Tianna; three great-grandchildren, Avery, Dakota and Ce’Jay; two sisters, Emma Mason of Hyattsville, Maryland and Ann Henson (Levi) of Silver Springs, Maryland; one brother, George Washington Burton, Jr. (Geraldine) of Beltsville, Maryland; a host of nieces, nephews, special friends, cousins and relatives.
A private memorial service will be held.
