John Edward Burnette was born in Norlina, North Carolina to the late John Henry and Hattie Dortch Burnette on September 14, 1938. He was the Twelfth of Twenty seven children. He worked alongside his brothers and sisters to help maintain the family farm. He was baptized at an early age at Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
John Edward graduated from Warren County Training School in 1956. Immediately after graduating he relocated to Philadelphia, PA. After working various jobs he felt the call to entrepreneurship and started his own business Burnette Janitorial Services. With his successful business he maintained government contracts in addition to prominent business owners of Norristown, PA.
He met and married the late Willie Mae in June 1960. To this union four daughters were born. His greatest joys in life was spending time with family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed playing pool and fishing.
John Edward departed this life on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.
He is preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Hattie. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters Lisa (Rick Sr.) , Nadine (Louiseric), Kimberly (Leroy), and Andrea (Marlon); his grandchildren Rick Jr. (Kelly), Keoni, Quintasha, Ernest, Ashley(Jeffrey), Ulysses III, Justin, Jazmine(Marcus), Marcus, Louis Eric, Christine, and Briane; his great-grandchildren Jeffrey Jr., Jameer, Jeremiah, Aleah, Hayden, Malachi, Memphis, Josiah, Kensington, Parker, Aryiana, and Marcus Jr., and his sibling Gladys Harper, Candace Carter, Jerry Burnette, Marion Wadley (Lodise), Gloria Russell(James), Naomi Powell (William), Agretta Ball, Elizabeth Florene, Alvis Burnett (Oliva), Carolyn Hawkins (John), Andrea Green(Pierre), Carmen Long (Tony); and a host of nieces and nephews.
