James Douglas Jones

When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say, It Is Well With My Soul.   Mr. James Douglas Jones age 106 peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Senior Citizens Home in Henderson, North Carolina.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, February 29, 2020 with Family Visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. and service starting at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Warren County, North Carolina.  The Reverend Phyllis Turner Royal will officiate and the Reverend Anthony Q. Alston, Pastor will deliver the eulogy.  Interment with Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

Those left to cherish his memories are:  Servietta Jones-Hameed , Marlin Alston (Fannie), Melraye Alston,  Myra Ford, Damon Pettiford, Dennis Hunter, Jesse Alston (Pam), Roger Alston (Michelle), Eugene Alston (Yvonne), Kenneth Alston (Betty); ten grandchildren; twenty nine great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; two dedicated nephews, George Jones and John Turner; a circle of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, church family and friends.

Mr. Jones will lie in repose in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
