With sincere compassion and concern, R. H. Greene Funeral Home stands hand in hand with the relatives of Mr. George Lee “Cookie” Valentine, age 80 as they prepare to celebrate his lasting legacy. Mr. Valentine transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Manson Baptist Church in Manson, North Carolina. The Reverend Tony Clark, Pastor will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by: one daughter, Barbara Talley of Henderson, North Carolina; four sons, Johnny Valentine (Kennettha) of Nashville, Tennessee, Eli Seph, Michael Smith and James Perry all of Newark, New Jersey; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Fannie “Weenie” Weathington of Norlina, North Carolina; his mother-in-law, Sylvia Tapley of Newark, New Jersey; seven sisters-in-law, Bea Smith, Eiris Culp (Ellie), Gale Pleasant and Patricia Smith all of Newark, New Jersey, Emma Valentine, Mary Valentine and Eunice Valentine all of Norlina, North Carolina; two special friends, Raymond Seward of Henderson, North Carolina and Dave Mullaney of Newark, New Jersey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Valentine will lie in repose on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the home of Barbara Tally located at 286 Barclay Lane, Henderson, North Carolina.
