Deaconess Rebecca Jean Newell Alston

Time is filled with swift transitions, naught on earth unmoved can stand, build your hopes on things eternal and hold to God’s unchanging hands.  With compassion, R. H. Greene Funeral Home is offering comfort to the loved ones of Mrs. Rebecca Newell Alston, age 76 of Murfreesboro, North Carolina.  Mrs. Alston transitioned on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the ECU Health in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Spring Green Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton, North Carolina.  The Reverend Sylvester Hammie, Pastor will officiate and Reverend Nolan R. Davis will deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Spring Green Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Everlasting memories will forever be cherished by:  her husband of 55 years, Deacon Alexander Alston, III; her daughters: Glynis and Schintay of the home and Tammy (Neil) of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; four grandsons: Deshawn Alston of Jackson, North Carolina, Daquan Robinson, Jamari Alston, and Jaylon Askew  of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Janiyah Wilkins of the home; four great-grands who are her heart: A’Nina Alston, Kailey Robinson, Karter Robinson, and Amir Alston; two brothers in love: Moses Alston of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Felton Davis of Warrenton, North Carolina; two sisters in love: Elizabeth “Sis” Giddiens and Carolyn “Bebe” Hayes of Warrenton, North Carolina; a very close friend, Evelyn Kee of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Deaconess Alston will lie in repose on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors and friends at the home of Deacon Felton B. Davis, Jr. 328 Connell Road, Warrenton, North Carolina.
