Deacon Larry D. Sledge

If I walk in the pathway of duty, If I work till the close of the day, I shall the great King in all his beauty, when I've gone the last mile of the way.  R. H. Greene Funeral Home is offering care to the loved ones of Deacon Larry D. Sledge, age 74 of the Wise Community.  Deacon Sledge transitioned on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, North Carolina.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Cooks Chapel Baptist Church in Warrenton, North Carolina.  The Reverend Tony W. Cozart, Pastor will officiate, Brother Prince Sledge will deliver the eulogy.  Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Warrenton, North Carolina.

Everlasting memories will forever be cherished by:  his wife of 54 years, Gloria Jean Rich Sledge of the home; one son, Prince Sledge (Shakeyla) of Clarksville, Virginia; one granddaughter, Jasmine Sledge of Frederick, Maryland; three step-grandchildren, Dorian Pennix of Frederick, Maryland, Keyonna Terry and Joderic Grice of Clarksville, Virginia; one brother, Clarence Sledge of Norlina, North Carolina; one sister, Gloria Hood (Jeff) of Charlotte, North Carolina; a nephew raised as his brother, Donald Sledge (Elaine) of Warrenton, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Reid of Richmond, Virginia and Venicia Harris (Larry) of Warrenton, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Charles Rich (Evelyn) of Clinton, Maryland; a special cousin, Otelia Cain of Detroit, Michigan; special friends, Henry Durham, Bennie Hinton, Sim Hendrick, Phillip Gatson, Eddie Hinton and Henry McNeil; a host of nieces, nephews, classmates, relatives and friends.

Deacon Sledge will lie in repose on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors and friends at the home, 1021 Cole Farm Road, Warrenton, North Carolina.
