What a solemn day it is to announce that God’s role model of a woman, Mrs. Cora Lee Hymon Simes, age 95 of 237 Sulphur Springs Road, Warrenton, North Carolina stood on the banks of Jordan, Monday, November 2, 2020 at her residence and boarded the ship of Zion.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Afton-Elebron Fire Station on Highway 401, Warrenton, North Carolina. The Reverend Carson F. Jones, Jr., will officiate and the Reverend Carrie W. Alexander will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Coley Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton, North Carolina.
Her precious memories will forever be cherished by: eight children, Mamie Kearney and Bertha Massenburg, both of Paterson, New Jersey, Mary Agnes Harrison, Johnnie Simes (Shirley), Horace Simes, Connie Simes and Carletta Simes, all of Warrenton, North Carolina and Marvin Townes of Washington, D.C.; forty nine grandchildren, eighty five great-grandchildren and thirty great-great grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Kearney of Paterson, New Jersey; one daughter-in-law, Lillian Simes of Warrenton, North Carolina; one son-in-law, Jasper Southerland of Warrenton, North Carolina; two very special nieces, Jean Parrish (Marlon) of Baltimore, Maryland and Marie Phelps Long (Herman) of Warrenton, North Carolina; one special nephew, Mark Townes (Admoria) of Warrenton, North Carolina; a plethora of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Simes will lie in repose on Friday, November 6, 2020 in the chapel of R. H. Greene Funeral Home from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m.
The family will receive visitors and friends at the home located at 237 Sulphur Springs Road, Warrenton, North Carolina.
