Charlie Lee "Sambo" Cooke

With sympathy and care, R. H. Greene Funeral Home is standing with the relatives of Mr. Charlie Lee “Sambo” Cooke, age 70 of Raleigh, North Carolina.  Mr. Cooke, formerly of the Hecks Grove Community, transitioned on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at his residence.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Mitchell Baptist Church in Louisburg, North Carolina.  The Reverend William Cozart, Pastor will officiate, Elder Clarence J. Dale will deliver the eulogy and interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Everlasting memories will forever be cherished by:  one daughter, Tomeica Fitts-Huff (Lee) of Raleigh, North Carolina; one son, Shelton Fitts of Wendell, North Carolina; four grandsons and one granddaughter,  Tyreek Huff, Tyler Huff, Tylan Huff, Logan Huff and Saleena Huff all of Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Rena Mae Judkins and Helen Terry (Chester), both of Warrenton, North Carolina; two brothers, Robert "Meme" Cooke (Betty) of Henderson, North Carolina and Willie "Inky" Cooke of Warrenton, North Carolina; four sisters-in-law, Carolyn Cox (Wade), Brenda Yancey (Alonzo), Joyce Elam (Malcolm) all of Henderson, North Carolina and Nedra Jones (Mark) of Warrenton, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Eddie Fitts, Jr. of Warrenton, North Carolina and Jerry Fitts of Henderson, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mr. Cooke will lie in repose on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at R. H. Greene Funeral Home.

The family will assemble on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 1:20 p.m. from the residence of Mark and Nedra Jones, 2846 US Highway 401 South, Warrenton, North Carolina.
