The world was greeted with a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt
and friend on April 15, 1934 in Palmer Springs, Virginia. Ruby Thrower
Hargrove was the daughter of the late Charlie Thrower and Pauline Washington
Thrower. Peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2019, while in the comfort of her
home, she took the angels hand and entered her Heavenly home.
She attended the public schools of Warren County, North Carolina.
As a youth, Ruby accepted Christ as her personal savior and attended the Roanoke
Chapel United Church of Christ. She remained a faithful member until her death.
She was employed at Carolina Sportswear Company for over 25 years.
She was united in marriage to the late Herman Hargrove, Sr., and this union was
blessed with two children.
She was a sweet and loving mother and grandmother. She loved her family and
stood by them; a strong pillar that will never be forgotten. Her last words were, “I
Love My Family.”
Saddened by submitted to God’s will, memories will forever be cherished by: one
daughter, Gloria Newell (Rufus) of Warrenton, North Carolina; one son, Herman
Hargrove, Jr. of Warrenton, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Culbert,
Christopher, Stanley, Stanford (Marquita), Kyle, Bryant and John; sixteen great-
grandchildren; one sister, Alice Beat of Brooklyn, New York; one sister-in-law,
Ella Thrower of New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives
and friends.
