Edith Thorne Obituary

OBITUARY

No time to cry, don’t shed a tear, I am with God, in spirit I am here…
I kept the faith, my spirit is light. I am at peace now, I fought the good fight.

Edith Blanch Thorne, 84, daughter of the late George and Mattie C. Talley,
was born August 3, 1933. She entered into eternal rest at Chippenham Hospital,
Richmond, VA on Friday, April 6, 2018. She was the sixteenth child of
seventeenth children and the last one to gain her wings.
Blanch, as she was so fondly called, obtained her education at Cotton Creek
School in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.
In 1955, she was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Charlie Edmond
Thorne. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Blanch joined Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Palmer Springs, VA at an
early age, and remained a faithful member until her health began to decline. She
loved to sing and was a dedicated member of the Gospel and Senior Choirs.
Her favorite past time was shopping, taking care of her grandchildren, drinking her
Pepsi, mastering her word puzzles and clowning around with her family and
friends.
Blanch was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Ann Goode; her son, Tony
Andrew Thorne, and two grandsons: Melvin Hendricks, Jr. and Richard Goode.
The funeral service for “Blanch, “ as she was fondly known will be held Saturday,
April 14, 2018 at twelve o’clock noon from the Jerusalem United Church of Christ,
located at 612 Jerusalem Road, Boydton, VA 23917. Reverend Otha Wimbush,
Pastor, will deliver the eulogy, and Reverend Mack Talley presiding.
Blanch leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, and to carry on her legacy, two
devoted daughters: Katherine Coffman of Chesterfield, VA, and Linda Thorne of
Norlina, NC; three loving sons: William Pearl Talley, Charles Marvin Thorne of
Richmond, VA, and Charlie Thorne of Henderson, NC; twelve grandchildren:
Deborah Hendricks of Henderson, NC, Cathy Henry of Chesterfield, VA, Khia
Milam of Norlina, NC, Roderick White, Mario Thorne, Le'Keif Thorne, Ke'Asia
White, and Raheh White, all of Richmond, VA, Wesley Seward, Amilleo Reigns,
Skylar Seward and Jonathan Seward of Palmer Springs, VA; twenty-three great-
